Solving the ‘waste crisis’ in Hanoi with waste-to-electricity plants
Waste-to-electricity is believed to be the best solution to the waste crisis in Hanoi, but one waste-to-electricity plant will not be enough.
Dr. Edward McBean from Guelph University in Canada said it is not difficult to import European technologies to use at Asian waste treatment plans. However, the biggest problem is that the waste structure in Asia is different from that in Europe.
In Vietnam, the state still pays for waste treatment and no business wants to invest in the field because of the low profitability. The government needs to work with the people to improve waste sorting and treatment.
