Poor investment hinders waterway transport growth
A lack of investment into inland waterways has stunted the development of water-borne shipping and made Việt Nam’s logistics sector heavily dependant on more expensive road transport. With up to 2,360 rivers stretching a total of 42,000 kilometres, Việt Nam was should have huge potential for a strong water-based transport system.
